The elements that I think make up a good web design are a clean structure – must be easy to navigate around and having a clean structure and layers to the site with clear and precise links and options will make it more accessible to the user, A good layout of the site will make things easier to find, and will be easy on the eye to look at and allow the user to scan the site for the required information. Again a good design should be eye catching to the user, draw them in and give them a reason to stay on your site, it should be clean and clear, a good layout will also aid in this. The typefaces on the design are also important, they should not clash and should be legible for the design and fit for purpose. Also things such as visually impaired should be taken into account. The site should be accessible, easy to navigate around and in my opinion a site should always be able to take you back to where you started without using the backspace button. The colours should again be fit for purpose and shouldn’t clash, such as red text on black background, again this is as much for legibility as for visually impaired users. Most importantly I think, the site should interact with the user. They should find the site interesting and intriguing to that they want to stay on your site and not go anywhere else. Most specific websites will have a target audience, it is them first and foremost whom the site must engage with.
